Thai politics in the last few years have been dominated by evidence of some bitter divisions. You might recall the rival demonstrations between the red shirts - largely supporters of ousted former leader Thaksin Shinawatra -- and the yellow shirts - broadly seen as royalists and supporters of the former government.

Now, criminal charges are being laid over these scenes in May 2010 - the red shirts had occupied parts of Bangkok for two months when armed government troops went in. 90 people were killed over the course of the protest. The then PM Abhisit and his deputy are the first officials to face charges. They'll face an investigative hearing in Bangkok on Thursday, and will be charged over the shooting death of a taxi driver.

Mr Abhisit joined Mishal Husain for an exclusive interview. He began explaining what he was likely to tell the hearing on Thursday.
