In Thailand, a ‘referendum’ means you have to accept what the military junta say. As the ‘referendum’ of the new Constitution is forthcoming, anyone coming out against it are arrested like this man. Public discussions and media coverage about the content of the draft Constitution are disallowed, particularly if they feature critical opinions. Why would you call it a ‘referendum’? A sham democracy!
