 เวลา 10.00 น. ผมจะใส่หน้ากากประธานาธิบดีสี จิ้น ผิง ไปยังสถานีโทรทัศน์ไทยพีบีเอส ที่กรุงเทพ เพื่อสอบถามข้อเท็จจริงกรณีไทยพีบีเอสทำการเบลอหน้าคนใส่หน้ากากปธน.สี ที่ประชาชนเคลื่อนไหวประท้วงรัฐบาลจีนจากเหตุการณ์แม่น้ำปนเปื้อนข้ามพรมแดน

สองสามวันนี้มานี้มีข่าวว่ารัฐบาลจีนกดดันสื่อไทยให้ลบภาพหน้ากากประธานสีออกทั้งหมดจากสื่อไทย
ผมตกใจมากที่ไทยพีบีเอสทำตามคำสั่งรัฐบาลจีน

Thai PBS has joined the censorship chorus sought by the Chinese Embassy by blurring the faces of protesters outside the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok and elsewhere wearing Xi Jinping masks. Even the large Winnie the Pooh doll was blurred.
What on earth is happening to the media in this country? You are Thailand's public broadcaster, not China's state media. They can't be serious!

เข้าสู่ยุคสถานทูตจีน 'จัดระเบียบ' สื่อไทย

ขอเตือนสถานทูตจีนอีกครั้งด้วยความหวังดี การพยายามเซนเซอร์ภาพข่าวผู้ชุมนุมสีจิ้นผิงในไทย ไม่ว่าที่เชียงใหม่หรือหน้าสถานทูตจีนที่กรุงเทพฯรังแต่จะก่อให้เกิดผลตรงข้าม นั่นคือจะมีคนไทยเอือมจีนมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ เพราะนี่คือการแทรกแรงการทำงานของสื่อไทยโดยจีนอย่างชัดเจน

 
ไม่มีคนชาติไหนชอบให้ชาวต่างชาติมาชี้นิ้วบอกสื่อชาติตนว่าอะไรทำได้ไม่ได้ ... คิดให้ดีนะครับสถานทูตจีน เพราะการทำเช่นนี้จะนำมาซึ่งผลเสีย บั่นทอนความสัมพันธ์ไทย-จีน ในที่สุด

ปล. ส่วนสื่อไทยที่กินแครอทจีนรัวๆ (ภาพเมสเมสมาจ่กสื่อไทยที่รู้จักดี) กรุณาหยุดเคี้ยวแล้วถามตัวเองว่า พวกคุณจะยอมให้สถานทูตต่างชาติมาตัดสินว่าอะไรเป็นข่าว อะไรไม่เป็นข่าว ขายอธิปไตยสื่อไทย เพราะเศษเนื้อเพียงไม่กี่ชิ้นหรือ? ศักดิ์ศรีในความเป็นสื่อที่รับใช้ประชาชนอยู่ที่ไหน? ความซื่อสัตย์ในวิชาชีพอยู่ไหน? หรือพวกคุณมิได้รับใช้ประชาชนไทย แต่รับใช้ หรือยอมก้มหัวให้รัฐจีน?

ปล. 2 สมาคมนักข่าวว่าไงครับ? หรือแครอทเต็มปากจนพูดไม่ออก?

ปล. สิ่งที่สถานทูตจีนทำเป็นการมองการสั้น ไม่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อรัฐบาลจีน และความสัมพันธ์ไทยจีนในระยะยาว การแทรกแทรงที่เงียบแต่ไม่เงียบเท่าเครื่องรถ EV จีนมีผลเสียแน่ ในเมื่อสาธารณะไทยเริ่มรับรู้ถึงบทบาทสื่อไทยที่สมรู้ร่วมคิด ยอมขายอธิปไตยในเสรีภาพสื่อ และมันได้เริ่มขึ้นแล้ว

A Thai journalist friend informed me of an attempted censorship by the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok.

A friendly reminder to the Chinese Embassy: attempting to censor news photos of protesters against Xi Jinping in Thailand—whether in Chiang Mai or outside the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok—will only backfire. It will simply lead more and more Thais to become disillusioned with China, because this is a clear attempt by China to interfere in the work of the Thai media.

No nation appreciates foreigners telling its media what can or cannot be reported. Think carefully, because this is counter productive to the good relations between Thailand and China.

As for the Thai press fed with carrots from the Chinese Embassy, I would like to ask if it's worth sacrificing your independence in deciding what is fit to print. Where is the pride in being the servant of the public? Will you, Thai press, sell your pride, independence and dignity for a few pieces of Chinese carrots? Was it that sweet?

 
Requesting the Thai press to remove Xi masks may seem trivial but true coercive power lies when you can make the others do silly things by complying to your seemingly trivial order masked as a 'request'. And this is just the beginning of how the rise of China is trying to reshape how the Thai press report and frame China.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy is unknowingly doing a disservice to its own country and Sion-Siamese relations as their myopic and knee jerk actions is counterproductive in the long term and will lead to more friction between the Thai people and China. Their interference which is now not as quiet as the engine of popular Chinese EV vehicle brands is now causing ripple among the Thais who learn about the censorship interference of the Chinese Embassy and the conniving role of some Thai press.
