ชมรมผู้รักประชาธิปไตยไทยแห่งรัฐอิลลินอยส์ และ คนไทยผู้รักประชาธิปไตยในแคนาดา ออกแถลงการณ์ร่วม ไม่เห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่ง กับการจัดงบประมาณซื้อเรือดำน้ำ

แถลงการณ์ร่วมคนไทยที่อาศัยอยู่ในสหรัฐอเมริกา และแคนาดา

เรื่อง ไม่เห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่ง กับการจัดงบประมาณซื้อเรือดำน้ำจากประเทศจีน 3 ลำ โดยรัฐบาลกบฏทหาร

เนื่องด้วย รัฐบาลกบฏทหาร นำโดย พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา มีจุดประสงค์ที่จะจัดงบประมาณซื้อเรือดำน้ำจากประเทศจีน จำนวน 3 ลำ โดยใช้งบประมาณ 3.6 หมื่นล้านบาท พวกเราชาวไทยที่อาศัยอยู่ในสหรัฐอเมริกา ไม่เห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่ง โดยมีเหตุผลสนับสนุนดังต่อไปนี้:

รัฐบาลกบฏทหาร นำโดย พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา ไม่ได้รับการเลือกตั้งมาจากประชาชนอย่างถูกต้อง จึงไม่มีความชอบธรรมในการตัดสินใจซื้อเรือดำน้ำจากประเทศจีนด้วยเงินภาษีอากร (ที่มาจากประชาชน) มหาศาลถึง 3.6 หมื่นล้านบาท

การตัดสินใจซื้อเรือดำน้ำถึง 3 ลำ ในเวลาเดียวกัน เป็นยุทธศาสตร์การป้องกันประเทศที่สำคัญ และต้องเปิดโอกาสให้ประชาชนมีส่วนร่วมในการพิจารณาและตรวจสอบได้อย่างกว้างขวาง บรรยากาศทางการเมืองภายใต้รัฐบาลเผด็จการ พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา ไม่เอื้ออำนวยสภาวะนี้

รัฐบาลควรให้ความสนใจกับการ แก้ไขปัญหาเศรษฐกิจและภัยแล้งในชนบท ที่เป็นปัญหาที่เร่งด่วนมากกว่าอยู่ในขณะนี้

Joint Statement of Thai People Living in the United States of America and Canada 

Opposition on the budget to buy 3 Chinese made submarines by Thailand’s military junta 

Thailand’s military junta, under General Prayuth Chan-ocha, wants to set aside US$1 billion budget to buy 3 Chinese made submarines. We, Thai people who are living in the United States of America, strongly oppose, with the reasons as follow:

1. Current Thai government, under General Prayuth Chan-ocha, was not elected by Thai people, therefore, do not have the right to spend US$1 billion of taxpayers' hard-earned money buying 3 Chinese made submarines.

2. The decision to purchase 3 Chinese made submarines at the same time is a defense strategic important decision and must be opened up to public wide-ranging discussion and examination which the present political atmosphere under dictatorial government of General Prayuth Chan-ocha does not allow.

3. Thai government should concentrate on solving economic and drought problems which are the more important and more urgent problems, at the moment.
