Have you hugged a tree recently?

Picture from Tree Story
Words from The Beauty of Tress

Many years ago an eminent visitor, invited to give a midsummer talk at my school, addressed some surprising words to his young audience that have since taken on a more trendy vogue.  He suggested that if we can be sufficiently unabashed to clasp our arms tightly around the oldest and most gnarled of trunks that we can find, there will be a change, and something remarkable will flow out of tree akin to energy charging battery.  Romantic stuff, may be, but his words have stay with me, and more than ever as I grow older, I sense that to walk in a great forest is to enter into a living, breathing organism, a creature of extraordinary beauty, strength and wonder.
