Mixed reactions as fans arriving from around the world discover their World Cup accommodation

Fans traveling from around the world to support their teams competing in the Qatar 2022 world Cup had mixed reactions as they discovered their accommodations on Saturday (November 19)
In one of the fan villages set up just for the occasion, Mexico fan Carlos Contreras said he was very happy with his room as well as the entire set up of the fan village.
Neil Gahan from England was not so impressed by the accommodation but praised the facilities made available to fans.
"When we turned up, when we came in it was like a bit of a work site and we were ahh, and then we got to the reception and it took about an hour or so, they were having trouble with the computers. But once they sorted that out, we went to the room, it wasn't too bad you know because they are new, turn the tap on, dirty water coming through, but once that flushed through it was alright, their not brilliant but you know they're only temporary structures anyway. Then when we've gone around to the other side there are some sports facilities on over there which are wicked, little tennis course and stuff and massive screens, yeah I think it's going to be alright," he said.
South Korea fan Seo Jaemin did not have so much praise.
“Too expensive, special hotel is too expensive in Qatar, but it's very cheap, i think cheap but expensive," he said, "my room is very small, like my tall (height), no, yeah this room is very small."
Qatar is providing a wide range of accommodation from fan villages, where people sleep in air conditioned containers, to luxury hotels and cruise ships.
Jan Kunkel who travelled all the way from Germany booked a hotel room in a brand-new building ideally located to reach the center of town with public transport, but he says his friends who decided to stay in a fan village were not so lucky.
"So, our accommodation is in Al Wakra, the fan base accommodation, it's pretty cool, it's new buildings and it's a lot of fans there, it's a fan zone. The buses are very 10 minutes to drive to Doha, with the metro it's not a problem from there. But our other friends are staying at Zafaran, it's a fan village with cabins and this is a very big problem to get in here because there is only public bus to get to Doha to the metro, so this is not so nice, but Al Wakra is all fine."
