การพาตัวหูจิ่นเทาออกจากห้องประชุมวันนี้ ทำให้ความขัดแย้งหลังฉากเปลี่ยนเป็นหน้าฉากทันที
ครั้งหลังสุดที่ทางการจีนเอาความขัดแย้งทางการเมืองในหมู่ชนชั้นนำมาออกอากาศให้คนทั่วไปได้เห็นคือ การพิจารณาคดีแก๊งสี่คนในต้นทศวรรษ 1980 หลังจากนั้นก็ไม่เห็นเลย และเข้าใจว่าการ "ไว้หน้า" กันถือเป็นเรื่องสำคัญมาก
เช่น ในปี 1987 เมื่อเติ้งเสี่ยวผิงต้องการปลดหูเย่าปังออกจากเลขาธิการพรรค ก็ทำอย่างเงียบๆ คือเรียกประชุมกรรมการกรมการเมือง ในที่ประชุมดังกล่าว หูเย่าปังร้องไห้พร้อมกับยื่นจดหมายลาออก แค่นั้นจบ และเมื่อหูตายในอีก 2 ปีถัดมา เติ้งก็จัดงานศพให้เสมือนยังเป็นผู้นำประเทศ
