Several European leaders have already expressed their support for Ukraine. This occurred after a heated talk between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

More details about who supported Ukraine can be found below.

Poland

After the conversation between the US and Ukrainian leaders, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted in a post on X that Ukrainians are not alone.

"Dear Zelenskyy, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone," he emphasized.

France

French President Emmanuel Macron was one of the first to react to the quarrel between Trump and Zelenskyy.

"We must respect those who fight," Macron briefly reacted.

He stressed that we should not forget there is "an aggressor and the one who was attacked."

Germany

Meanwhile, the deputy leader of the German CDU party, Johann Wadephul, added that Europe will not betray Ukraine.

"The scenes from the White House are shocking. How can someone stab the president of an invaded country in the back like that? Free Europe will not betray Ukraine!" he remarked.

Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock, joined Wadephul in supporting Ukraine.

"Ukraine is not alone. Germany together with our European allies stands united alongside Ukraine - and against the Russian aggression. Ukraine can build on unwavering support from Germany, Europe, and beyond. Their defense of democracy & their quest for peace & security is ours," she said.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized that no one wants peace more than Ukrainians right now.

"Therefore we are working on a common path to a lasting and just peace. Ukraine can rely on Germany – and on Europe," he added.

Potential future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also expressed his support for the Ukrainian president and Ukraine.

"Dear Volodymyr Zelenskyy, we stand with Ukraine in good and in testing times. We must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war," he noted.

Spain

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez joined the list of European leaders expressing support and solidarity with Ukraine after the clash between Trump, Vance, and Zelenskyy.

"Ukraine, Spain stands with you," said the Prime Minister.

United Kingdom

According to Sky News, the UK's position "remains unchanged" after the breakdown in negotiations between Trump and Zelenskyy.

An anonymous source said, "let's see what happens in the coming days."

The source added that the UK government’s position is "unwavering support for just and lasting peace that ensures Ukraine's sovereignty and security."

The source reiterated the position of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, stating that "no negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine" are possible, and added that Europe has to play its part in defense and "step up."

Lithuania

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda joined European leaders and also supported the Ukrainians.

"Ukraine, you'll never walk alone," he wrote in a post on X.

Moldova

Moldovan President Maia Sandu also commented on the conversation between Trump and Zelenskyy.

"The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine defends its freedom and ours. We stand with Ukraine," she wrote on X.

Czechia

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced that his country also supports Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

"We stand with Ukraine and on the side of the free world!" he emphasized.

Latvia

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs also sided with Ukraine, as Ukraine is a victim of Russian aggression.

"Ukraine is a victim of the Russian aggression. It fights the war with the help of many friends and partners. We need to spare no effort for just and lasting peace. Diplomacy sometimes is the art of the impossible in difficult circumstances. Latvia stands with Ukraine," noted the country’s leader.

The Prime Minister of Latvia, Evika Siliņa, also joined the President.

"Latvia stands with Ukraine," she wrote.

Norway

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, following the tense atmosphere between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, remarked that what the world witnessed today from the White House was "serious and discouraging."

"Ukraine still needs US support, and the security and future of Ukraine are also important for the US and Europe... Zelenskyy has strong support in Ukraine, broad support in Europe, and he has led his people through a very difficult and brutal time under Russia’s attacks," he stated.

Støre explained that, in his opinion, Trump's accusations that Zelenskyy is gambling with World War III are "deeply unfounded, and this is a statement I distance myself from."

"Norway supports Ukraine in its struggle for freedom. We hope that the Trump administration also understands the importance of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," the Prime Minister concluded.

Sweden

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that his country also supports Ukraine.

"Sweden stands with Ukraine. You are not only fighting for your freedom but also for all of Europe’s. Slava Ukraini!" he remarked.

Netherlands

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof declared that the Netherlands continues to support Ukraine just as firmly as before.

"The Netherlands supports Ukraine as firmly as ever. Now more than ever. We want a lasting peace and an end to the war of aggression started by Russia. For Ukraine and its people, and for Europe," the Prime Minister noted.

European Union

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also joined in supporting Ukraine and President Zelenskyy.

"Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy. We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace," she stated.

The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, also expressed her support for Ukraine.

"We stand by Ukraine. We will step up our support to Ukraine so that they can continue to fight back the agressor. Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge," she emphasized.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola also expressed her support for the Ukrainian people and their president.

USA

Meanwhile, US Senator Adam Schiff called Trump a coward and Zelenskyy a hero.

It should be noted that Democratic lawmakers stood up for Zelenskyy, condemning Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s attitude toward the Ukrainian president after the heated exchange between the two leaders in the Oval Office.

In particular, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Republican, wrote in a post on X that "Trump and Vance are doing Putin’s dirty work. Senate Democrats will never stop fighting for freedom and democracy."

Senator Chris Murphy also joined the support for Ukraine, noting that it was "an utter embarrassment for America." Senators Ruben Gallego and Brian Schatz also remarked that it was a "disgrace" and "shame."

"Shame, shame, shame," Schatz wrote.

Republican Senator Sheldon Whitehouse also supported Ukraine.

"Our leaders acting like ventriloquist dummies for Putin. Disgusting," he wrote.

US Senator Bernie Sanders, in turn, noted that he believes in democracy.

"Trump berates Zelenskyy, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years. Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism," he emphasized.
Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump

Today, Friday, February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the United States.

The head of state has already met with American senators and US President Donald Trump.

However, during the conversation with journalists, a quarrel erupted between Zelenskyy and Trump regarding the war in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian President reminded that the war in Ukraine did not end under Barack Obama, Donald Trump, or Joe Biden. This caused a sharp reaction from US Vice President JD Vance, and then from Trump.

It should be noted that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has left the White House early.

Meanwhile, American leader Trump stated that Zelenskyy is not ready for peace.
