He does not think through the consequences. He doesn’t think he needs to know much, and he certainly doesn’t know much.
His top advisers say “Yes, sir” as soon as he says something.
Whereas in the first term — not because people wanted to block the president, but because they were trying to help him — they would say, “But Mr. President, have you thought of A and B and C? Have you considered this other alternative?”
People are afraid to say those things in this second term because they’re afraid they’ll be taken as signs of dissent or disagreement.
