Today marks one year since Thai human rights lawyer and co-founder of
@TLHR2014 Arnon Nampa was placed in detention. This HR lawyer has provided free legal assistance to HRDs, pro-democracy activists and political dissidents. In many cases, activists were charged under article 112 (lèse-majesté) of the Penal Code for what amounts to exercising their right to freedom of expression. (1/3)

I wrote to Govt of #Thailand to express serious concern about the charges against, pre-trial detention of, and disbarment proceedings against, Mr. Nampa, the latter of which appear to be an arbitrary reprisal for the legal services he provides to activists and dissidents (2/3)

Under international law, lawyers must be free to exercise their profession without without intimidation, hindrance, harassment or improper interference.
