Speakers biography:
- Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, B.Sc. (Kasetsart), M.A. (Chulalongkorn), Ph.D. (NIDA)
Currently the Chair of the Political Reform Committee, National Reform Council, Professor Dr. Sombat is a respected academic figure in Thailand. He is a Director of ASEAN and Asia Studies Centre, a professor of Public Administration, and a former President at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). He served as a Secretary General of the junta-defunct National Student Center of Thailand in 1973 and named a "Rising World Leader" by Time Magazine a year later. In public service, he also served on the boards of the National Housing Authority, the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation, the Thai Maritime Navigation Company, and the Forest Industry Organisation.

He is a recognised Thai lawyer, legal adviser, and political commentator, is currently a Visiting Scholar at SOAS. He served as Special Counsel to the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Honorary Advisor to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand.

Dr. Carlo Bonura, MA, Ph. D (Washington)
He is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Southeast Asian Politics. He received his PhD. from the University of Washington in political science, and his research spans the fields of comparative political thought and Southeast Asian politics.
